Chelle Names 23-Man Super Eagles Squad, Drops Osimhen and Nwabali for Friendlies
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has unveiled a 23-man squad for Nigeria’s upcoming international friendlies, with notable absentees including Victor Osimhen and first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that Chelle selected a blend of experienced and in-form players for the matches against Iran and Jordan.
Team captain Wilfred Ndidi, midfielder Alex Iwobi, and forward Ademola Lookman headline the squad, which will represent Nigeria in the two fixtures scheduled for later this month.
Originally set to take place in Amman, Jordan, both matches have now been relocated to Antalya, Turkey. According to the NFF, the Super Eagles will face Iran on Friday, March 27, with kick-off set for 4 p.m. local time, before taking on Jordan on Tuesday, March 31, at 8 p.m. local time.
