Dangote Refinery Dismisses Reports of Fresh Petrol Price Hike

The Dangote Refinery has dismissed reports suggesting a new increase in petrol prices, describing claims of a fresh hike as false and misleading.

The clarification follows widespread speculation that petrol prices could rise by about ₦75 per litre to around ₦1,275. The refinery, however, stated that no such adjustment has been made, urging the public to disregard the circulating information.

The denial comes at a time of heightened volatility in global oil markets, driven largely by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which continue to shape fuel pricing and supply dynamics in Nigeria.

Industry data indicates that petrol prices have seen frequent adjustments in recent months, with the refinery revising its ex-gantry prices in response to fluctuations in crude oil costs, foreign exchange rates, and evolving supply conditions.

Despite these shifts, the company emphasised its commitment to transparency, noting that any official price changes would be formally communicated through appropriate channels. It also cautioned against the spread of unverified information, warning that speculation could trigger unnecessary panic in the downstream petroleum market.
