Police Assure Safety Ahead of 2026 JAMB Exams, Dismiss Insecurity Reports
The Nigeria Police Force has reassured the public of adequate security arrangements ahead of the 2026 examinations conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, dismissing circulating reports suggesting insecurity at some centres.
In a statement, the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, said the claims are unfounded and do not reflect the current security situation across examination locations nationwide.
He noted that the police have implemented a range of proactive measures designed to ensure that candidates can sit for their exams in a safe and orderly environment. These include the deployment of additional security personnel to examination centres, increased routine patrols, and enhanced perimeter surveillance.
According to the police, rapid response teams have also been strategically positioned to address any emergencies or security concerns that may arise during the examination period. These teams are expected to act swiftly to neutralise threats and maintain calm across all centres.
The statement further emphasised that the police are working in close coordination with other security agencies to strengthen monitoring and intelligence-sharing efforts. This collaboration, officials say, is critical to preventing disruptions and ensuring a smooth examination process.
The reassurance comes amid heightened public sensitivity around safety at large gatherings, particularly those involving young people. For many candidates and their families, concerns about security can add to the already high pressure of national examinations.
By dismissing the reports and outlining its preparedness strategy, the police aim to restore public confidence and ensure that students across the country can focus on their exams without fear.
