A Point of Sale (POS) operator has lost her life after being knocked down by a speeding commercial bus in the Berger area of Abuja.

The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of the morning near a filling station, according to eyewitness accounts. The bus was reportedly fleeing from officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) when it veered off the road and struck the woman as she attempted to cross.

Witnesses said the force of the impact flung the victim across the road, while the bus driver and the vehicle allegedly in pursuit failed to stop after the collision. The woman was said to have laid on the road for several minutes before police officers from the Utako Division arrived at the scene.

She was confirmed dead before any medical assistance could be rendered, sparking outrage and concern among residents who questioned the circumstances surrounding the alleged chase.

In response, the FRSC in the Federal Capital Territory disclosed that it has commenced an investigation to ascertain whether its officials were involved in the incident. The Corps urged members of the public to refrain from speculation, assuring that findings from the investigation would be made public.
