Babajide Sanwo-Olu, hosted the One Day Governor, Miss Etiyemonu Esther,
History met inspiration at the Lagos House, Marina, as the winner of the 21st Lagos State Spelling Bee Competition stepped into leadership as One Day Governor, addressing the state with poise, intelligence, and gratitude.
Standing before a distinguished audience, the young leader began by giving glory to Almighty God for the privilege of assuming office — even if only for a day. The moment reflected the power of academic excellence and the opportunities Lagos State continues to create for its brightest young minds.

In her address, she commended the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu for transforming Lagos into a leading destination for business, infrastructure, and development. She highlighted:
•The ongoing Lagos Rail Mass Transit projects — Red and Blue Lines
•Road infrastructure expansion
•Strengthened security initiatives
•Recruitment of teachers and establishment of technical colleges
•Digital skills training for youths
•Upgrading of tertiary institutions
•Staff housing development
•Renovation of public secondary school libraries
Her speech underscored a deep understanding of governance — describing it as purposeful leadership aimed at improving quality of life, advancing economic growth, and safeguarding lives and property.
In response, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed appreciation for her thoughtful words, emphasizing that governance is fundamentally about improving citizens’ lives, ensuring security, and using government as a tool for economic development and societal progress.
The ceremony also recognized the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and the Quality Assurance Department in nurturing academic excellence across the state.
A powerful reminder: leadership begins with preparation, discipline, and education.
Lagos is not just building infrastructure — it is building future leaders.
