Borno Deputy Governor Visits Maiduguri Blast Victims as Calm Gradually Returns
The Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Kadafur, has visited victims of the recent Maiduguri explosions who are currently receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
The visit comes as normalcy gradually returns to Maiduguri, with residents beginning to resume their daily activities following the coordinated attacks. The state government has assured the public that the situation is firmly under control and that security agencies are actively managing the aftermath.
According to police authorities, the explosions occurred almost simultaneously at multiple locations, including the hospital gate, the Monday Market Roundabout, and the Post Office area. The attacks left at least 23 people dead and 108 others injured, marking one of the most serious security incidents in the city in recent times.
The blasts are suspected to have been caused by improvised explosive devices planted by fighters linked to Boko Haram. The explosions were reported around 7 p.m., shortly after Muslims broke their fast, a timing that heightened the impact of the attacks.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as investigations proceed, while efforts are ongoing to support victims and reinforce security across the state.
