Female NSCDC Officer Dies During Tactical Demonstration in Abuja
A female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reportedly died after an accident during a tactical demonstration in the Federal Capital Territory.
The incident occurred during a “show of force” exercise conducted by the Corps’ Female Strike Force, also known as the Female Squad. A 58-second video of the event, which surfaced on social media on Saturday, captured the tragic moment.
In the footage, a black operational vehicle marked “Female Strike Force FCT Command” is seen moving in formation. During a turn, the lead vehicle reportedly ran over one of the female officers, trapping her beneath it.
Other NSCDC personnel and bystanders were seen rushing to the scene. They lifted the van in a desperate attempt to free the officer before she was moved into a waiting ambulance.
Although the Corps has not released an official statement, The Cable reported that the NSCDC spokesperson, Afolabi Babawale, confirmed the officer’s death in a telephone conversation on Saturday afternoon.
As of the time of filing this report, the identity of the deceased officer had not been disclosed. Babawale reportedly stated that a comprehensive statement would be issued to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
