Multipro Enterprise Limited, manufacturers of Hypo Bleach, has cautioned Nigerians against the dangerous misuse of its product following a viral social media controversy involving content creator King Mitchy and influencer VeryDarkMan.
In a statement signed by the company’s Marketing Manager, Adebayo Adeyemo, and cited by TVC News on Sunday, the company expressed concern over online trends that appear to encourage the ingestion of bleach as part of social media stunts or challenges.
Multipro Enterprise Limited emphasized that Hypo Bleach is strictly a household cleaning product designed for disinfecting surfaces, whitening fabrics, and maintaining hygiene. The company warned that the product is not formulated for human consumption under any circumstances and could pose serious health risks if ingested.
The manufacturer urged members of the public, especially young people who are often influenced by viral online content, to exercise caution and avoid participating in harmful trends that could endanger their lives. It also called on social media users and content creators to act responsibly and refrain from promoting or dramatizing hazardous behaviour for engagement or clout.
The warning comes amid heightened online exchanges between King Mitchy and VeryDarkMan, which have drawn widespread attention and sparked conversations across digital platforms. While the company did not directly reference the details of the feud, it reiterated that no publicity or trend justifies the misuse of a chemical product clearly labeled for external use only.
