Lagos Hosts Press Conference Ahead of 9th AFRIMA Awards
The Lagos State Government on Wednesday, 7 January 2026, hosted a press conference ahead of the 9th edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), reinforcing Lagos’ position as Africa’s leading creative and cultural hub.
The press briefing, held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, brought together key stakeholders from the Lagos State Government and the AFRIMA organisation to outline preparations, expectations, and the broader cultural impact of the prestigious continental awards.
Speaking at the event, Lagos State officials reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting Africa’s creative economy, noting that events such as AFRIMA not only celebrate African music excellence but also drive tourism, youth engagement, and economic activity across the state.
The AFRIMA leadership highlighted Lagos’ infrastructure, cultural vibrancy, and global outlook as key reasons the city continues to play a central role in hosting major international creative events.
