The warrant of arrest earlier issued against the Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Bosede Osamaye, has been vacated by a Magistrates’ Court sitting in the state.
In a ruling delivered on Wednesday, Magistrate Damilola Sekoni held that the warrant and other pending applications before the court had become spent following the voluntary appearance of the defendant in court. The magistrate noted that since Mrs. Osamaye had now submitted herself to the jurisdiction of the court, there was no basis for the subsistence of the arrest order.
Following the ruling, the commissioner was arraigned on the charge before the court, to which she pleaded not guilty. The court subsequently granted her bail on self-recognisance, allowing her to remain at liberty pending the determination of the case.
The matter was thereafter adjourned to February 20, 2026, for further proceedings, as the court continues to hear the case.
