Police Rescue Kidnap Victim, Launch Operation to Free Others in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of one of four victims abducted near the Cocoa Research Institute along the Ijebu-Ode Road, with the victim’s vehicle also successfully recovered.

The Command disclosed that the Commissioner of Police has ordered the deployment of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, in collaboration with other tactical teams, to support the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Idi-Ayunre Division. The teams are currently carrying out an intensive bush-combing operation to secure the safe release of the remaining victims.

Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, stated that the rescued victim is now in safe custody and undergoing debriefing, while efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue others still held by the abductors.

In a related development, the Command also confirmed the re-arrest of a suspected kidnapper who had previously escaped from police custody, an incident that had sparked concern and protests within the affected community.
