Sanwo-Olu: 2026 Will Be Glorious

Governor Sanwo-Olu offered prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, calling on Nigerians to continue supporting the President’s bold reforms aimed at addressing the nation’s social and economic challenges.

“Lagos will continue to make progress. It shall be well with all citizens; 2026 will be a glorious year,” the Governor stated.

Reflecting on leadership and service, Sanwo-Olu noted the transient nature of public office, saying:
“There will be political movements. I continue to count my days; I have only one January 1st left in office. No position is permanent. Let us continue to pray. We will never give up, no matter the challenges. Nigeria will be greater.”

At the mosque, the Governor urged workers across the state to remain dedicated, disciplined, and committed to service, while also offering prayers for the President, his family, and all Nigerians.

The New Year service was attended by senior government officials, junior staff of the State House, and members of the public.

Delivering the Christian sermon, Dr. Bukola Oluwagbemiga, Director of Postgraduate Studies at Life Theological Seminary, Ikorodu, spoke on the importance of total reliance on God, drawing lessons from Psalm 121 and John 10:27–30. He urged the Governor and other public officials to consistently create room for God’s guidance in governance.

During the Muslim prayers, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs (Muslim), Dr. Abdullahi Jebe, emphasized the need for sincerity, unity, and the rejection of hypocrisy in both personal conduct and public service.

The New Year religious activities, coordinated by Dr. Abdullahi Jebe and the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs (Christian), The Very Rev. Bukola Adebiyi, featured prayers for the Governor and his family; the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and his family; the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary; the THEMES Plus Agenda; civil servants and their families; as well as for a peaceful Nigeria and a greater Lagos State.
