Security Forces Repel Attempted Terrorist Infiltration in Maiduguri and Damboa

The Borno State Police Command has confirmed an attempted infiltration by suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in parts of Maiduguri and Damboa Local Government Area.

According to the command, the incidents occurred in the early hours of Monday when suspected insurgents attempted to enter Ajilari Cross in the Kofa area on the outskirts of the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, as well as along the Damboa–Maiduguri road in Damboa LGA.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, said the first incident was reported at about 12:00 a.m. at Ajilari Cross, Kofa (MMC), while another attempted infiltration was recorded around 1:00 a.m. along the Damboa–Maiduguri road axis.

Security forces, including military and police personnel, quickly responded to the threat and engaged the suspected terrorists, successfully preventing them from gaining access to the targeted areas.

A video currently circulating on social media shows residents of Borno State cheering and celebrating security and military personnel after the attempted attack was repelled. The footage captures the moment locals expressed appreciation to the troops for their swift response and efforts in protecting the communities.

Authorities say the situation has since been brought under control, while security operatives continue surveillance and operations in the affected areas to prevent further threats and ensure the safety of residents.

The police also assured the public that security agencies remain vigilant and committed to maintaining peace and stability across the state.
