The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the full timetable for the polls, setting the stage for what is expected to be another defining moment in the country’s democratic journey. The announcement was made in Abuja by INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, who outlined the key dates and urged political parties and stakeholders to begin preparations in earnest.
According to the schedule:
February 20, 2027- Presidential and National Assembly Elections
March 6, 2027- Governorship and State Houses of Assembly Elections
With the timeline now public, political parties are expected to commence internal processes, including primaries and candidate nominations, in line with the electoral framework. The release of the timetable also signals the beginning of heightened political activities across the country, as aspirants, civil society groups, and electoral observers begin strategic planning.
