INEC Opens 2027 Preliminary Voter Register for Online Inspection

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general election available online, following concerns raised by Nigerians and other stakeholders over access to the document.

The commission announced the development in a press statement dated October 26, 2026, signed by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC).

According to Haruna, the register, which was previously displayed physically across the country, can now be accessed through INEC’s online platform.

The move gives registered voters another opportunity to review their personal details, identify errors and seek necessary corrections ahead of the 2027 general election.

INEC’s decision is expected to improve public access to the register, promote transparency and strengthen confidence in the electoral process as preparations for the polls continue.
