Troops Neutralize Terrorists in Kebbi, Rescue 62 Hostages in Zamfara
Troops of the Joint Task Force, North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralized two terrorists in Kebbi State and rescued 62 abducted persons from Munhaye Forest in Zamfara State, the military has confirmed.
The coordinated operations were carried out in collaboration with allied security agencies and local vigilante groups.
In Kebbi State, acting on credible intelligence, troops laid an ambush for members of the Lakurawa terrorist group along the border communities of Augie in Kebbi State and Binji in Sokoto State. The operation, which took place in Kerani Village, resulted in the killing of two terrorists and the recovery of two motorcycles modified for long-distance movement. The insurgents were dressed in camouflage and had equipped their motorcycles with thick blankets and other logistical items, including hand tyre pumps.
Meanwhile, in Zamfara State, troops conducted a separate operation in Munhaye Forest, a known stronghold of the notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Alti. The raid followed intelligence reports that several abducted persons were being held in the area. During the operation, troops successfully rescued 62 hostages, all of whom are currently in safe custody, as arrangements are underway to reunite them with their families.
The military said the successful operations underscore the sustained commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA and its partners to dismantling terrorist and bandit networks, restoring peace, and safeguarding lives across Nigeria’s North-West region.
