FG Reaffirms Commitment to Credible, Transparent National Census

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to conducting a credible, transparent and internationally acceptable national population census, assuring Nigerians that due process will not be compromised at any stage of the exercise.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, gave the assurance during a courtesy visit by the Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr Aminu Yusuf, to his office.

Idris подчеркed that accurate and reliable population data remains critical to effective national planning, equitable resource allocation and sustainable development. He stressed that the success of the census would depend largely on public trust and widespread participation, which the government is determined to secure.

He assured the NPC of the full support of his ministry and its agencies, particularly in the area of nationwide sensitisation and public enlightenment, once President Bola Tinubu formally proclaims a date for the census.

According to the minister, government-owned media organisations will be fully mobilised to educate citizens on the importance of the exercise and encourage active participation across the country, in line with global best practices.
