Over 50 Survivors Hospitalised After Deadly Attack on Woro, Nuku Communities in Kwara
More than 50 survivors of the recent violent attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals for injuries sustained during the assault.
The victims reportedly suffered varying degrees of injuries, including gunshot wounds, as gunmen invaded the community in what residents described as a sudden and coordinated attack. The violence was not limited to Woro alone, as the attackers also struck the neighbouring Nuku community, leaving several residents injured and properties damaged.
Sources within the affected areas said the attack threw the communities into panic, forcing residents to flee their homes in search of safety. Many of the injured were rushed to nearby health facilities, while those with severe injuries were referred to better-equipped hospitals for urgent medical attention.
Although details surrounding the motive for the attack remain unclear, the incident has heightened fears among residents, who say the area has experienced rising insecurity in recent times. Community members have called on the state and federal governments to strengthen security presence in the axis to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of lives and property.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while investigations are expected to be underway to identify the perpetrators and restore calm to the affected communities
