Teddy A Opens Up on Emotional Toll of False Domestic Abuse Allegation
Reality TV personality Tope Adenibuyan, popularly known as Teddy A, has spoken about the emotional and reputational toll of a viral allegation that falsely accused him of domestic abuse.
Teddy A, who met his wife, actress and fellow reality TV star Bamike “Bambam” Olawunmi during their time on the Big Brother Naija reality show, addressed the issue during an appearance on the WithChude Podcast. The couple’s relationship, which began in the BBNaija house, later blossomed into marriage and has remained in the public eye.
During the interview, Teddy A recounted how an online report alleged that he physically assaulted Bambam, including claims that the abuse occurred while she was pregnant. He said the story spread rapidly across social media, catching him completely by surprise.
According to him, the allegations were entirely disconnected from reality, as nothing out of the ordinary was happening in their home at the time the story broke. He recalled waking up that day to a calm atmosphere, with his pregnant wife relaxed and watching a movie.
Teddy A explained that he first became aware of the situation after noticing an unusual surge in activity on his phone. Confused by the sudden wave of notifications, he began scrolling through comments to understand what was happening. It was at that point that the gravity of the false claims became clear.
He added that the situation deeply affected his wife emotionally, as she repeatedly asked who could have fabricated such a story. Teddy A said he had no immediate explanation for the source of the allegation, describing it as both shocking and distressing.
The reality star noted that the incident not only caused personal pain but also posed a serious threat to his public image, given how quickly unverified information can spread online.
