NUPRC Shortlists Oil Firms for 2025 Licensing Round
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has announced the shortlist of oil firms for Nigeria’s 2025 oil and gas licensing round, following the completion of its pre-qualification process.
In a statement released on Tuesday and signed by Eniola Akinkuotu, Head of Media and Strategic Communication, the commission confirmed that all successful applicants have been formally notified.
The licensing round, which received approval from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in December 2025, is part of broader efforts to attract fresh investment into Nigeria’s upstream petroleum sector and boost exploration activities.
According to Akinkuotu, the shortlisting process was concluded on March 16, 2026, in line with the established 2025 Licensing Round Guidelines. He added that qualified applicants will now move from the screening phase into the competitive bidding stage, marking a critical step in the allocation of oil and gas assets.
The development signals renewed momentum in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, as the government seeks to strengthen investor confidence and drive growth in the sector.
