Nigeria Introduces One-Stop Security Screening Across Airports
The Federal Government has directed the adoption of a one-stop security screening system at all airports nationwide, in a move aimed at improving efficiency and strengthening aviation safety.
The directive, issued by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria in collaboration with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, mandates a single, comprehensive screening process for passengers before boarding. The system is designed to eliminate multiple checks, reduce delays, and ease congestion within airport terminals.
According to officials, the reform forms part of ongoing efforts to modernize airport operations and tighten security measures in response to evolving global aviation threats. The new screening process will integrate passenger checks, baggage scanning, and identity verification into one streamlined procedure.
Airport operators have been instructed to upgrade screening equipment and ensure personnel are adequately trained for smooth implementation. Airlines are also expected to adjust their boarding processes to align with the new system.
Authorities say the initiative will not only enhance passenger experience but also improve Nigeria’s compliance with international aviation safety standards, further positioning the country as a major air travel hub in West Africa.
The government added that implementation will be closely monitored, with periodic reviews to ensure that improved efficiency does not come at the expense of security.
