MIPAD Honours Sanwo-Olu with 2025 Most Influential Governor Award at Lagos House

The Founder and Chairman of the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD), Mr. Kamil Olufowobi, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at Lagos House, Marina, where he formally presented the 2025 Most Influential Governor of the Year Award to the Governor.

The visit underscored Lagos State’s growing global recognition for governance, innovation, and inclusive development, particularly its engagement with the African diaspora community.

Presenting the award, Mr. Olufowobi commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his leadership style, people-centered policies, and consistent efforts in positioning Lagos as a global economic and cultural hub. He noted that the recognition reflects the Governor’s impact not only within Nigeria but across the African diaspora.

In his remarks, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed appreciation to MIPAD for the honour, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to sustainable development, economic growth, and strengthening ties with Africans in the diaspora. He emphasized that Lagos remains open to partnerships that foster investment, innovation, and global collaboration.

As part of the visit, Governor Sanwo-Olu presented a Lagos State Government Plaque to Mr. Olufowobi in appreciation of MIPAD’s role in promoting African excellence and global visibility.

The courtesy visit was attended by several top government officials and MIPAD executives, including the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin; Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Sam Egube; Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso; Special Adviser to the Governor on Blue Economy, Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel; Special Adviser on Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), Mrs. Bukola Odoe; Executive Secretary, Lagos State Diaspora Affairs, Mr. Jamaine Sanwo-Olu, among others.

Also present were MIPAD Global Director, Ms. Angela Regalado; Co-Founder, Mr. Tope Esan; Executive Director, African Caribbean Initiatives for MIPAD, Ms. Crystal Cummings; Media Team Manager, Dayo Sowemimo; and CEO of Oaken Events Limited, Mr. Ayiri Oladunmoye.

The visit further reinforced Lagos State’s strategic positioning as a gateway for diaspora engagement, investment, and cultural exchange.
