Burna Boy Donates $100,000 to Prisoners and Hospital Patients Across Nigeria

Grammy Award–winning Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy has made a remarkable humanitarian gesture by donating $100,000 to support prisoners and hospital patients across the 36 states of Nigeria.

The funds were channeled through renowned social media activist Martins Vincent Otse , popularly known as VeryDarkMan, who revealed that he declined to personally receive $50,000 earmarked for prisoners. Instead, VeryDarkMan insisted on accompanying Burna Boy directly to correctional facilities to ensure transparent and direct distribution of the funds.

The duo reportedly visited Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison in Lagos, where prison authorities informed them that such donations could not be accepted at the facility level without formal clearance and directives from the Nigerian Correctional Service headquarters in Abuja.

The initiative is aimed at putting smiles on the faces of Nigerians, particularly inmates detained over minor financial-related offenses and patients confined to hospital beds due to their inability to settle medical bills. The donation is expected to ease the burden on vulnerable individuals who often remain imprisoned or hospitalized simply because they lack access to modest financial support.

This humanitarian act further underscores Burna Boy’s growing influence beyond music, highlighting his commitment to social impact and compassion for underserved Nigerians.
