Labour Party Zeros In on Southern Nigeria for 2027 Presidential Ticket
The Labour Party (LP) has officially announced that its presidential ticket for the 2027 general election is zoned to southern Nigeria, effectively excluding aspirants from the northern region.
The party’s interim National Chairperson, Nenadi Usman, disclosed the decision on Tuesday in Abuja, noting that the zoning arrangement had been finalised internally and is non-negotiable.
Usman emphasized that the party would not consider any presidential candidate from the North. “We have one certain decision that we have taken, and that is that we will certainly not field any aspirant from northern Nigeria. We have zoned the position to southern Nigeria,” she stated.
She also warned that any attempt by a northern aspirant to contest for the party’s presidential ticket would not be entertained, reinforcing LP’s firm stance ahead of the 2027 elections.
