WHO Says Nigeria Has No Active Ebola Cases After Patient’s Evacuation

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has said Nigeria currently has no active Ebola cases following the evacuation of the infected patient and her husband to Switzerland.

WHO Regional Director for Africa, Mohamed Janabi, disclosed this in a statement shared on his official X handle on Monday.

Janabi said Nigerian health authorities would continue monitoring 52 contacts linked to the case, while Swiss authorities would assume responsibility for the patient’s continued medical care and the monitoring of her husband, who is the 53rd contact.

He added that the couple, both Swiss citizens, were evacuated earlier on Monday after Nigerian medical teams stabilised the patient’s condition.
