EFCC Makes Renewed Attempt to Seize Abubakar Malami’s Abuja Residence
Fresh concerns have arisen over the assets of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, following a renewed attempt by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to take control of his residence in Maitama.
According to reports, EFCC operatives stormed the property on Tuesday in a decisive move linked to ongoing probes into alleged financial misconduct involving the former minister. Eyewitnesses, cited by The Nation, said the operatives, reportedly led by Folarin Dare, arrived in multiple buses, heavily armed and wearing the commission’s red and black jackets, before sealing off access to the residence at No. 2 Koranakh Close, off Amazon Street. Despite their presence, efforts to gain entry were unsuccessful.
This operation follows a series of coordinated actions by security agencies targeting properties connected to Malami across the Federal Capital Territory. Several of his residences and office spaces had previously been marked for seizure under an interim forfeiture order.
