Dangote Refinery IPO Attracts Investors From Over 90 Countries

Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has announced that its initial public offering (IPO) has attracted subscriptions from investors in more than 90 countries, including 51 of Africa’s 54 nations, as it seeks to position the offer as a landmark pan-African investment opportunity.

The company said the share sale recorded the largest opening-day offering in the history of Nigeria’s capital market, adding that demand had surpassed the previous African record within the first 10 days of the offer.

According to the refinery, investors participating in the IPO cut across different categories, including retail investors, pension funds, institutional investors, asset managers and fintech platforms.

The broad geographical reach of the offer reflects the company’s efforts to attract investment beyond Nigeria and expand African participation in one of the continent’s largest industrial projects.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery said it had intensified investor education campaigns and engagement across key markets to encourage participation ahead of the closing date.

The offer is scheduled to close on October 27, with the company indicating that no further extension is currently planned.

The scale of subscriptions, if sustained through the closing date, could strengthen the refinery’s position in Nigeria’s capital market while testing investor appetite for large-scale industrial investments across Africa.

The IPO also comes amid broader efforts to deepen domestic capital markets and mobilise private investment for industrial development. However, the final level of participation and the distribution of subscriptions across countries and investor categories will provide a clearer picture of the offer’s reach once the process closes.
