IT Sky Solutions Launches Sky ID to Strengthen Business Trust, Formalisation in Nigeria
IT Sky Solutions has launched Sky ID, a digital business identity and communication solution designed to help businesses strengthen customer trust, improve communication and present a more professional identity in an increasingly digital economy. The launch, held in Abuja, brought together technology stakeholders, business leaders and representatives of government agencies, with speakers highlighting the potential of digital innovation to support Nigeria’s informal sector, create jobs and expand economic opportunities.
Speaking at the event, a representative of the National Assembly said the government’s responsibility was to create laws that support initiatives capable of improving business operations and creating employment opportunities for Nigerians.
“First and foremost, our job is primarily to make laws for the good governance and order of the country,” he said.
He added that lawmakers would continue to support legislation that enables technology-driven initiatives and other businesses with the potential to support Nigerians and create jobs, particularly for young people. Also speaking, Assistant Director at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Dr Ahmed Yusuf Tambuwal, said digital innovation could play a significant role in transforming Nigeria’s informal sector, where a large proportion of the country’s population operates. According to Tambuwal, digital tools can help small businesses formalise their operations, improve business management and expand their customer base, giving them the capacity to pursue larger commercial opportunities.
“I think this particular initiative is very important for the informal sector. As you are well aware, the informal sector is where the largest population of Nigerians operate,” he said.
“With this innovation, a lot of small businesses are going to be formalised. They will be able to manage their businesses better, expand their customer base and, while remaining small businesses, gain the capacity to manage bigger business opportunities.”
Tambuwal said such initiatives could contribute significantly to job creation and economic growth, adding that NITDA was supporting businesses and individuals through policies, regulations and frameworks aimed at simplifying participation in Nigeria’s digital economy. He said the agency also supported promising initiatives through partnerships, funding and other forms of collaboration.
Sky ID targets trust gap in business interactions
Earlier, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of IT Sky Solutions, Almustapha Liman, said Sky ID was developed in response to the need for greater trust and accountability in business interactions. Liman said businesses and individuals increasingly require reliable systems through which identities can be established and verified as digital communication and transactions become more embedded in everyday commercial activities. He argued that the challenge was not necessarily a lack of integrity among Nigerians, but the absence of systems capable of promoting accountability and discouraging abuse.
“In any society in the world, you will find the good, the bad and the ugly. But if a system is put in place that can check the activities of individuals, it can discourage people from doing what is not right,” he said.
According to him, the identity and verification features behind Sky ID are intended to give businesses and their customers greater confidence when communicating and conducting transactions. He also stressed the responsibility of the private sector to contribute to building systems that promote trust, arguing that technology should go beyond facilitating communication to strengthening relationships between businesses and their customers.

One number for business communication
IT Sky Solutions said Sky ID enables organisations to communicate with customers through a single, memorable business number, helping them maintain a consistent and professional identity while supporting seamless communication. The company said the product forms part of its broader vision of building a social trust network connecting Africans and African businesses globally. The launch also marked a major milestone for IT Sky Solutions, which is celebrating 18 years of operations and technology service delivery. Liman linked the company’s growth to employment generation, noting that its operations and network of channel partners had created jobs in different markets.
He said approximately 1,000 people had been employed through the company’s operations in India, while some channel partners, which he said had between 400 and 500 workers, could potentially represent several thousand additional jobs across the wider network. Looking ahead, Liman said the company intended to take its trust and verification model beyond Nigeria by developing what he described as a “social trust network across Africa.”
“We are building a social trust network across Africa, whereby someone from another nation should be able to communicate or transact with another party anywhere globally,” he said.
The launch positions Sky ID within a growing push to use digital tools not only to improve business efficiency, but also to address trust, identity and accountability challenges that can limit participation in the formal economy. For IT Sky Solutions, the objective is to make business communication more reliable while creating a digital environment where businesses and their customers can interact with greater confidence.
