Tinubu Approves Minor Cabinet Reshuffle, Edun and Dangiwa Exit FEC; Oyedele Takes Over Finance
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), resulting in the exit of the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa.
According to official statements from the Presidency and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, the changes are aimed at strengthening coordination within government and improving economic delivery under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
In the new arrangement, Taiwo Oyedele has been appointed as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, taking over from Edun. Oyedele previously served as Minister of State in the Finance Ministry.
Similarly, Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named Minister-designate for Housing and Urban Development, replacing Dangiwa.
The outgoing ministers have been directed to complete formal handover processes to their successors on or before Thursday, April 23, 2026.
The Presidency said the decision was taken in line with constitutional powers granted to the President under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), and thanked the affected ministers for their service to the nation.
Officials added that the reshuffle reflects an ongoing effort to enhance policy delivery and ensure greater efficiency in key sectors of the economy.
The changes take effect immediately following completion of the handover process.
