Peter Obi’s Nationwide Engagements Raise Interest in Possible Nasarawa Visit

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general election, has continued his nationwide engagements with Nigerians, with his recent visit to Kogi State drawing attention to issues of governance, economic hardship and national development.

Obi was in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, on Tuesday, October 27, where he held a town hall meeting and interacted with residents as part of his ongoing engagements ahead of the 2027 polls.

During the visit, the former Anambra State governor identified entrenched corruption as a major obstacle to Nigeria’s development and reiterated his commitment to investment in education, healthcare and productive sectors of the economy.

He also visited the Maigari of Lokoja, explored historical sites in the city and interacted with traders at Kpata Market, where concerns were raised over rising prices and declining consumer purchasing power.

The Lokoja engagement followed the inauguration of the NDC’s Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja on October 26, as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general election.

Obi has previously visited Nasarawa State. In April 2025, he stopped at Paradise College of Health and Technology in Uke, where he donated ₦2.5 million to support the institution and orphans under its care.

In June 2026, he was also scheduled to join other NDC leaders, including Rabiu Kwankwaso and Seriake Dickson, at a campaign rally in Akwanga ahead of the Nasarawa North senatorial by-election.

His political activities in the state come against the backdrop of his performance in Nasarawa during the 2023 presidential election, when he won the state under the Labour Party platform.

As the 2027 election approaches, Obi’s nationwide town hall meetings are providing a platform for discussions on governance, economic recovery and public welfare.

Note: Obi’s presence in Nasarawa on October 28, 2026, and any engagements scheduled for today could not be independently confirmed at the time of writing. Confirmation from the NDC or Obi’s official communication channels is needed before publishing this as a report of a current visit.
